Artist Grants
The Arts Council of Hillsborough County held its 2012 Artist Grants
panel review Friday, Feb. 17 at the Tampa Museum of Art. Ten
artists from a variety of disciplines were selected from a field
of 17 for grants of $1000 each. The recommendations of the panel
will be reviewed and voted on by the Council's Board of
Directors on Feb. 23. The Individual Artist Grants
are awarded to experienced artists in the performing, visual,
literary, dance and music disciplines for projects that will
further the artist's professional development. This year's
applicants sought money for artistic projects requiring film-making,
costumes, music, equipment purchases, and workshops
that will take their career or work to a higher level.
The
Arts Council administers grant programs to the local arts
community for the Hillsborough Board of County
Commissioners, offering grants to cultural organizations and
individual artists. More than $600,000 has been awarded to
local artists since the program's inception in 1989 and
nearly $9 million in annual and special grants to cultural
organizations since 1991.
